I recently came back from a trip to Chicago, and with the ever-so-wise Ferris Bueller in mind: life moves pretty fast, if you don’t stop to look around every once you could miss it.
I haven’t missed it. In fact, this past year has been one of the most fulfilling I’ve ever had. I finally found myself a good job that I love – unconventional – but so enjoyable. I’ve been working as a waitress at a fine-dining restaurant, and although my tens of thousands of dollars degree is completely unrelated, I’m making more than I would as an entry level coordinator. So really, I can’t complain.
In the last year, this job has gotten this Toronto girl to: Las Vegas (lethal), San Francisco (has my soul), Portland (as weird as you’d think), Seattle (Go Mariners!), Vancouver (beautiful), Kelowna (drunk), Chicago (art) and in the near future England, Ireland and Scotland. It’s been busy; lots of work, but also lots of vacation. And I couldn’t be happier.
However, my writing has been put on the backburner. And in retrospect: why? If it’s been the most fulfilling of years, why haven’t I documented any of it?
So, I’m coming back for you.
